Introducing Tandem's new Dashboards Beta!

A new era of Dashboards
Via the new beta, Autodesk Tandem has extended dashboard capabilities from solely tracking twin-building workflows to also supporting operations:
1. Data Completeness Dashboards (available since 2023): Designed to support the data handover workflows for twin builders, these configurable dashboards help track the completeness of the data acquisition process as the digital twin is built. Users can swiftly identify and act on assets with missing data.
2. Dashboards for operations (available now in beta): Designed for routine monitoring workflows, these dashboards give building owners and facility managers insights into their operations, helping them understand current and past conditions.
Key features in this new beta
The Dashboards beta is currently being rolled out incrementally.
1. Dashboard Cards: We’ve added new card types to expand functionality:
- Parameter Values: Elevate asset data by displaying it in dashboard cards for targeted use cases.
- Stream Data: Visualize current conditions and historical data through gauge and timeseries chart cards, providing real-time insights and trends.
- Issue Summary Cards: Summarize data from breached Stream Thresholds, to review trends and monitor live conditions.
2. New Templates: Beyond the familiar data completeness dashboards, you can now start from an asset monitoring template or a blank slate, before creating a custom dashboard to fit your specific use cases.
3. Flexible Layouts: Customize the layout of your dashboard by toggling panels on or off based on your needs. Whether you prefer a context-focused (including a 3D view) or data-focused (charts only) dashboard, the choice is yours.

Gain powerful insights today
The new dashboard capabilities in Tandem represent a significant leap forward for building operators. By providing a versatile, user-friendly platform for data visualization and monitoring, Tandem empowers you to make informed decisions and optimize operations.

Enhancing asset monitoring
The Dashboards Beta is targeted at scenarios where you need to monitor a collection of similar items in your twin. This is perfect for situations where multiple assets share common properties. For example, in Tandem’s latest webinar, we showcased a manufacturing facility focused on the production of ATV chassis. During the webinar, Tandem’s Product Manager, Hali Larsen, demonstrated the use of the new dashboards to monitor health and safety data for various production zones, equipped with environmental sensors. This included the correlation of equipment runtime to other data such as noise levels. With the new dashboards Hali illustrated how the “Issues Summary” table can highlight the presence of alerts or warnings in the health and safety data (Figure 1)and provides a drill down into more granular data with one click (Figure 2).

She also explored how to build a dedicated dashboard to monitor the performance of the milling machines in just a few clicks. Once in place, it was straightforward to investigate the history of operational states, error codes, current draw, and machine temperatures per mill.
Correlating datasets visually and with eye-catching charts, allows users to build dedicated entry points into a digital twin. This supports reoccurring tasks for improved stakeholder communications. Tandem’s Dashboards Beta opens new investigation and analytical possibilities for your business-critical assets.
In summary, the April 2025 Tandem Webinar presents a live demo, explorations of several pre-built dashboards, and the creation of a new one using the asset monitoring template. Key points from the demo include:
- Health and Safety Dashboards: Featuring heat maps of noise levels, historical issue data, and offline sensor trends.
- Specific Zone Monitoring: Detailed views of noise levels, spindle speeds, and alerts for specific areas within the facility.
- Asset Monitoring: Color-coded views of machine conditions, summaries of issues, and detailed data trends for assets like milling machines and CNC machines.
Building custom dashboards
Creating custom dashboards in Tandem is easy. Starting from an existing view, you can configure cards and customize the layout to focus on the data most relevant to your use case. Flexibility ensures that you can effectively build dashboards tailored to your unique use case while templates ensure you can do your work quickly.
Future enhancements
Looking ahead, we are excited about expanding the computational capabilities within dashboards and improving usability. Upcoming features under consideration include:
- Visual Card Library: Streamlining the creation workflow with a more intuitive card selection process.
- Global Date Picker: Coordinating charts and cards within a dashboard based on selected time ranges.
- Support for Calculations: Enabling averages, totals, and other computations across data streams.
- Statistics on Streams: Analyzing historic data to compute metrics like percent time occupied or counts of alerts over time.
- Summary Cards: isualizing data for collections of assets or spaces, such as warranty expiration date and next service date, bucketed by meaningful time horizons.
